Job Description

We are global private markets specialists delivering tailored investment solutions, advisory services, and impactful, data driven insights to the world’s investors. Leveraging the power of our platform and our peerless intelligence across sectors, strategies, and geographies, we help identify the advantages and the answers our clients need to succeed. Position Overview Data Analytics Technology Solutions (DATS) is StepStone's unified data and technology department. We build SPI by StepStone, the software platform our clients use to navigate private markets, and we deliver the data solutions, automation, and analytics that teams across the firm use every day. Our products support how investors and internal teams make private markets decisions. This Associate Product Manager supports the SPI Research product, contributing to the day-to-day execution of the roadmap while developing the judgment to take on broader ownership over time. SPI Research brings together qualitative and quantitative insights from our investment professionals, including fund summaries, investment memos, meeting notes, and track record analyses. Essential Job Functions: • Maintain the SPI Research product backlog under the direction of a senior product manager: gather and document requirements, write clear user stories and acceptance criteria, and help prioritize against business value and technical feasibility. • Participate in the agile process, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, sprint review, and release coordination, working closely with Engineering and the Technology PMO. • Gather and document feedback from internal investment and Enterprise Services teams and external clients and bring it into product discussions to inform direction. • Partner with data and engineering teams to scope complexity early, dig into the technical details, and translate ambiguous problems into clear, actionable requirements. • Stay aware of dependencies and shared components across the wider platform, flagging where SPI Research work connects to or affects other products. • Support business development by presenting SPI Research to clients via web demo or in person, and relaying client feedback back to the product team. • Contribute to release notes, feature communications, and adoption efforts in partnership with Business Partner Solutions. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. • 3 to 5 years of product management experience delivering software products in an agile environment, with a demonstrable track record of features shipped and adopted. • Exposure to private markets, asset management, or financial services, or a demonstrated ability to ramp quickly on a complex specialist domain. • Experience with data products, analytics platforms, or B2B SaaS where the product is the data. • Familiarity with Jira, agile tooling, and modern product analytics. • Experience working across a product suite or platform, managing shared components and cross-product dependencies. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Solid grounding in core product craft: requirements gathering, backlog management, writing user stories and acceptance criteria, and working within sprint ceremonies. • A data-driven mindset, comfortable working with KPIs and product analytics to support prioritization. • Working data and technical fluency: able to read and write SQL, reason about data models and APIs, and hold a credible technical conversation with engineers without needing every detail translated. • Strong written and interpersonal communication, able to represent the firm credibly with internal stakeholders and external clients. Salary Range: $90,000 - $102,000 The salary range is an estimate of pay for this position. Actual pay may vary depending on job-related factors that can include location, education, skill, and experience. The salary range does not include any benefits or other forms of possible compensation that may be available to employees. #LI-Hybrid At StepStone, we believe that our people are our most important asset and crucial to our success.
