The Role: Senior Platform Engineer
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join our Platform team. This role sits at the intersection of infrastructure, developer experience, and reliability, with end-to-end ownership across how our platform is built, deployed, observed, and operated in production.
You’ll design and maintain Traild’s cloud-native platform, ensuring it is secure, scalable, reliable, and easy for engineers to work with. This is a highly trusted role, involved from early architectural discussions through to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
You’ll collaborate closely with product, application, and infrastructure teams to accelerate delivery, reduce friction, and maintain high availability across multiple cloud regions.
What You’ll Work On:
Platform & InfrastructureDesign, implement, and scale infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).Build and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform.Operate Cloud Run and Kubernetes in production at scale.Architect and manage cloud networking, including VPCs, load balancers, firewalls, routing, and service meshes.Embed security best practices across infrastructure, deployments, and platform tooling.
Developer Experience & Tooling
Design, build, and maintain internal developer tooling that improves code quality, delivery speed, and reliability.
Own the CI/CD pipeline, enabling automated testing, safe deployments, and fast feedback loops.
Improve local development workflows and ensure strong parity between development and production environments.
Establish and evolve best practices for build systems, deployment automation, and platform standards.
Observability & Reliability
Own observability systems, including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting, to improve visibility and incident response.
Drive initiatives to reduce time-to-deploy and mean-time-to-recovery (MTTR).
Improve platform performance, resilience, and cost efficiency through thoughtful automation and optimisation.
What We’re Looking For:
Strong experience with GCP, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Cloud Run.
Solid understanding of cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and microservices.
Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, ArgoCD).
Strong background in observability (logging, monitoring, alerting).
Proficiency in Python, Go, or similar for automation and tooling.
Deep understanding of cloud security, identity management, and secure delivery practices.
Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills across infrastructure, platforms, and build pipelines.
A collaborative, customer-focused mindset with a passion for enabling others to ship faster with confidence.
Candidates based in Melbourne are highly preferred for in-person collaboration and brainstorming.
Nice to have:
Experience with developer portals or internal platform tooling.
Background in platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps.
Experience supporting production-grade, multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
Familiarity with secure software supply chains and build provenance.
Experience with Linux systems.
Exposure to ERP integrations or financial systems.
